CrossOver DeskSupport Main Screen
CrossOver DeskSupport is a powerful remote pc control tool, that allows you to control (right from your own PC) a distant PC connected to the internet or Networks. It is the ideal solution to provide quick remote assistance and help your customers, colleagues, friends and family members, even if they are on the other side of the world.
CrossOver DeskSupport uses the Repeater, both the Server and Viewer can stand behind a NAT firewall/router without having to configure ports forwarding. A Repeater is most time available on the CrossOver server.
It uses Following Connection PortsThe server port on repeater ( default port = 5901 )The client port on repeater ( default = 5500 )
How it works
- Client will ask for support to the Server side through phone call or using internet.
- Server will create the client application for that client.
- Client application will be sent to Client from email or messenger. (Client application file size is about 346Kb only)
- Server starts support session and generate key for specific client.
- After clicking on 'Connect' button, server is in ready status to serve the client.
- This key will be sent to client and using this key client connect with the server side
- When client click on connect, client will be connected to the server using repeater, then the desktop of client will be display in server application.
- Server will provide the requested support to the client.
- After completion of support, client will be disconnected from server by clicking 'Disconnect' button.
- On click of disconnect, a presentation report of support will be sent to client's email address automatically. It gives the brief description of the support provided.

Registering DeskSupport

If you have got CrossOver DeskSupport, you need to register it on CrossOver Server to make it usable.To Register DeskSupport Open Main Screen >> Click On Register Online. Regisration Screen appears ,To register you must have a internet connection now you have to submit *Fullname,*Compnay Name,*Phone No,*Email and remarks.(NOTE : * Field entries are mandatory) after submitting these information you will get a activation code software will automatically registered in your system.
This activation code will help you to contact the CrossOver administrator in future for further assistance or any kind of support.

Manage Clients

This screen will help you to manage your clients. This includes adding new client, modify their information, deleting client, printing, Searching clients and printing History Of Supports.
- Open Main Screen
- Click On Clients

Open Client WIndow >> Click On Search Tab >> Type Text To Search in edit box >> Click On Search
Configuring Client File

This window will be used to create DeskSupport.exe file that will be used in remote site to connect to the server. Enter the proper value in the respective field and Click on 'Generate Client' button to create client application file.
Repeater Configuration
- Specify the repeater IP Address or URL ( that will act as pool to communicate between Client and Server side.)
- Specify Monitor(Server) Port on Repeater ( By default its value is 5901)
- Specify Client Port on Repeater (By default its value is 5500)
Email Configuration
During and/or after different action, there may be need sending emails. To enable this feature you should configre this block. For eg. after support session, server will sent email to client with presentation summary, by this time sender's email address will be the one that you filled in the 'Email From Address' and if you don't fill the field sending email will fail. To send an email you need to specify your SMTP server name (eg. smtp.ntc.net.np). May be SMTP username and password is required to connect to the SMTP server or if you don't have any, let this field empty. List of field to be filled:
- Enter your SMTP server name
- Enter UserName. ( If your SMTP server requires )
- Enter Password. ( If password is specified along with your User Name )
- Enter the Email From Address ( This is the sender address usually a organization who is providing the support to the client. )
- Enter Port No. ( default port is 25 if its different then specify )
- Enter Remarks any. ( Optional)
After completing this settings , Click on Generate Client button which will create a client application in your system. It will prompt you to open the application directory for easyness you can choose Yes. This file usually located in the 'C:\Program Files\CrossOver DeskSupport\myservers' directory. Now you have the client application file. You have to provide this application file to the Client who needs your support in some way.

Providing Support To The Clients

While giving support to the client you must add information of particular client for whom you are giving a support.
Note: Reapter should be ON.
To Open Support Window >> Open Main Window >> Click On Support
Starting Support Session
- If you have any clients, select client name from combo list.( If you don't have any client yet, and if you click on 'Generate Session ID' it will prompt for creating client by opening Client Entry form.)
- Click on Generate Session ID
Application will generate Session ID. You have to pass this ID to client and he/she will connect to the server using this ID. (Eg. session id is 12345 for client A) - Click on Connect Button to stay in ready state, so that the client can start his session.
Eg. "Client A" will start his client application. He will put his session id and click on Connect. After susscull connection remote support provider will give support.

History Of Supports

Collection of support report that has been provided to client(s).You can print this report or send as email content to client who has taken support. To send a email report to Client, email address of clinet must be specified during creation of client account.
Help for Tables
The main operations that can be performed on Table controls are described below :
1. Sort on Column
The arrow displayed in the column indicates that a sort has been performed on this column.
To sort a column :
- Click the column header.
- The sort is performed automatically.
This feature is available if it has been enabled by the application developer.
2. Search on Column
The glass indicates that a search can be performed in the column. To perfom a search :
- Click the glass.
- Enter the sought value. The search is performed automatically from the first letters entered and filtered accordingly in each letter you entered. This feature is available if it has been enabled by the application developer.
3. Display of Popup Menu
- The arrow located at the end of the table is used to display the table popup menu.
- This is useful if one wants to export the table data to his desired format, for eg. it is possible to export in excel, html, doc or in xml format and more options are available.
- This provides option similar to that availabe in pop up menu below.
- This feature is available if it has been enabled by the application developer.
4. Popup Menu
To display the table popup menu, right-click the table with the mouse.
The poup menu enables you to:
- Select the columns to display
- Export the table data to an XML file, Word or Excel.
- Display a chart based on the table information.
